Client Testimonials

As a high-performance athlete, I’m always finding new ways to challenge myself while pushing my limitations mentally and physically. I’ve been working with Shar since July 2019. When I started with her, she had me doing various neurological exercises. Everything had seemed to be overwhelming at first, but as I adapted, my focus, reaction time and range of vision increased. After consistently seeing Shar and growing as an athlete, I had won my first Canadian Boxing Championship after 6 months of working with her. I am now currently preparing for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics with Team Canada and I'm very fortunate to have Shar on my team.

Shar had played a critical role in my recovery back to fighting in the ring and I could not be more grateful for her assistance regaining what I had lost and continued guidance even now as I continue to compete professionally and improve myself as an athlete towards my prime. Her cranial sacral osteopathic treatment was an odd relief I thought I would never expect from such subtle manipulations on my scalp but my headaches and pressure I felt in my head would be put to ease after every treatment. With her advice on how to increase my training from the very little I could do to the next gradual step made sure I did not run into any major relapses along the recovery, there were a lot of small ups and down but I'm happy to say now it was an overall upward journey that I strive to continue today. The next big thing for me was different types of neurotraining that opened my eyes to seeing to use neurotraining as a way to assess myself on a daily basis. Not only was it for me to regain my ability to train without feeling symptoms but to me it is most valuable as a self-assessment tool I can use everyday. As an athlete no day is the same when all the small things of your day can influence how well you recover from how much noise I was exposed to, my general heart rate, brain activity, food, everything! Even after getting over the majority of my symptoms and feeling recovered I still use the neurotraining as a final measure to help me decide how I will train today as it is based on how well my nervous system is recovered. Repeating the process of exercising and assessing I have become much more aware of my internal states along with the external factors that influence my performance which I am confident now is a skill outside of fighting will lead me to the top of the fight game.

I had been experiencing right shoulder strain for a number of years and sought various pain management treatments from massage to acupuncture over this time to allow me to maintain weight training. I had reached a point of just accepting it was not going away and compensating how to live with it - subsequently dropping training altogether. Then I found Shar. She spent one treatment on it and assessed both my issue and how to manage it going forward that I could get myself back into the gym and keep that atrophy from getting worse. Thank goodness!

Shar has been working with me for over a year, as both my neurological trainer and manual therapist. She is always accommodating to my schedule. Shar wants nothing but the best from you, in regards to your physical and mental well-being to sports performance. Her excellent care and training helped me excel in boxing and when you think you’re at your best, she will continue to push for improvement. Shar's neurological performance training targets quick critical thinking incorporated with drills involving balance, fine motor muscles, memory, and reaction-timing. In addition, she provides treatments from deep tissue massage, cupping, I.A.S.T.M., adjustments, athletic taping, etc. What I like most about Shar is that she isn't afraid to try new concepts, as she is always trying to improve herself in her practices, to help her patients.

In a field where there are many people operating with little actual know-how on how to treat concussion related symptoms, Shar stands out as someone who actually knows what she is talking about and has the exercises in place to help you get better. I had many years of lingering symptoms while meeting with many ‘experts’ to little avail, I saw some of the exercise work she was doing and knew it was what I needed. Many others focus on manual therapy and acupuncture, but with her you work those as well as stimulating brain games that can get you back on track for regular life. I now have no concussion related symptoms and I believe this is in part thanks to Shar.

As a competitive athlete, it is essential to have an overall set of skills to ensure performance and success is ideal. It is one thing to train the body, increase your strength, but many are missing a very valuable asset- training your mind and cognitive skills. Sharmila Gupta has done a major service in ensuring her athletes are prepared mentally. You don't see much trainers providing these sort of training, and it exclusively, is all credited to 'Shar'. This is equivalent to your "Lomachenko" brain exercises, and it shocks me to see how knowledgeable Shar is. I can't thank her enough for how much of a influential role she has been in my training and team.

As a high performance athlete I’m always looking to find an edge over my opponents and the Neuro Performance Training can do that. Shar is very knowledgeable and does a great job of explaining each drill so I can understand how it applies to my sport. I highly recommend work with Shar!
